With Signatures, I combined materials in certain iconic associations: like Mustard, Mayo, Ketchup, or font-type, red pen, and Whiteout. I froze these into the shape of a pencil. In melting, the materials were able to create a stain or ‘signature’ across a suspended sheet of paper.
